How to Eliminate Air Fryer Cleanup by Using Cooking Bags

06/21/2022

Air fryers have exploded in popularity the last couple years and are a great appliance to have in any kitchen. It's a quick and easy way to cook food without all the added fat of traditional frying. But arguably the biggest downside of air frying is the cleanup. The cooking process creates a lot of mess and the appliance itself can be difficult to clean. But there is a solution - cooking bags! Not only do they help keep your air fryer clean, but they also make it easier to cook using sauces, and prepare complete meals. If you're looking for an easy way to reduce air fryer cleanup, then air fryer bags are the solution for you.

How Do Cooking Bags Work in an Air Fryer?

Both Ready. Chef. Go!’s Microwave & Oven Bags and Oven & Grilling Bags work great in the air fryer. These air fryer bags are made of a heat-resistant material that has been tested to safely prepare meals with temperatures up to 400 degrees. The bags have a small opening at the top that allows you to easily add your ingredients without making a mess. Once your food is cooked, you can simply remove the bag and enjoy your meal. When you prepare meals with an air fryer bag, the food doesn't come into direct contact with the basket or grill pan, making clean-up nonexistent.

Air Fryer Cleaning Hacks

The air fryer quickly makes delicious food, but cleaning up is a chore. Anyone with an air fryer has experienced the after effect of having to scrape food off the basket, furiously trying to get fat and grease off, or having to soak the cooking components for hours after cooking.

While RCG! cooking bags will eliminate even needing to explore these hacks, these are some helpful tips for when using your air fryer without a bag or when you run out:

  • If the removable portions of the fryer are dishwasher safe, let it do the hard part. (Some online product descriptions say the parts are dishwasher safe but the manufacturer's instructions say otherwise. Carefully read the instructions for your particular air fryer before placing any part of it in the dishwasher.)

If your air fryer is not dishwasher safe, do this:

  • Fill the sink with hot water and some dish soap, and soak the pan and basket for at least 10 minutes to help soften the food.
  • Use a non-scratch scrubber sponge to help remove the food that is stuck on.
  • Wipe down the inside where the basket fits and the outside with a soft damp cloth.
  • Use the same soft cloth to wipe off the heating element if dirty.
  • Avoid steel wool or any abrasive material that could harm the coating on the heating.

Some online sites recommend filling the basket with warm soapy water and running the fryer to let it clean itself. This method has resulted in mixed results with some customers stating there is a danger of the rising bubbles and waters coming into contact with the heating element and damaging your fryer. We do not recommend this cleaning hack.

Air Fryer Bags vs. Air Fryer Liners

Air fryer bags and air fryer liners are both designed to make cleanup easier, but they work differently. Air fryer bags completely enclose your meal and separate the food from the cooking components. The food doesn't come into direct contact with the basket or the cooking screen.

Air fryer liners are made of similar heat-resistant material, but they are not as durable as cooking bags. Air fryer liners are placed in the fryer basket and the food is cooked directly on the liner. Foods can still stick to the liner.

Cooking Bags are Changing the Game of Pre-Cooked and Home-Cooked Meals

Cooking bags are the better choice for reducing air fryer cleanup because they are durable, and prevent food from sticking to the basket or pan. The other great thing about RCG bags is they are multipurpose and can be used for a number of different cooking methods.
